Jewel of the Sholas – Nilgiri Flycatcher by S Jayaraj

In this captivating mixed-media creation, S Jayaraj renders the endemic Nilgiri Flycatcher with brilliant luminosity, setting its electric indigo-blue plumage against a complex backdrop of torn newsprint, crossword puzzles, and craft paper. Jayaraj's clever use of collage elements creates an intriguing dialogue between structured human intellect and the wild, untamed beauty of the Western Ghats. Through this delicate balance of vivid color application and textured media, Jayaraj transforms a rare highland songbird into a striking symbol of natural wonder persisting amid the complex patterns of human existence.
