Debut Art Show by Artist Semmozhi

This exhibition brings together two subjects that are central to this collection: Indian art and nature. One body of work explores the richness of Indian artistic traditions, while the other celebrates the beauty of landscapes and the living world around us. Together, these paintings reflect a deep appreciation for culture, creativity, and the quiet sense of peace that nature offers. The artist’s love for both these themes can be felt through her paintings.

Artist Statememt

For me, art is an expression of patience. It has shown me the value of slowing down, paying attention to every detail, and allowing each piece the time it deserves to come to life.
I have been painting since childhood, and creating art has always been a part of who I am. When I decided to pursue art more seriously, I found myself drawn to Indian art because of its rich culture, heritage, and timeless beauty. I wanted to celebrate a tradition that I felt deserved to be explored and appreciated more widely. Alongside this, my admiration for the beauty of nature has always been a constant source of inspiration. Landscapes, forests, water, wildlife, and the quiet details of the natural world continue to influence my work.
Working primarily with acrylics and occasionally with watercolours, I approach every painting with patience and precision. I believe an artwork is never rushed—it evolves over time. I often return to a painting after intervals, refining each detail until I feel it truly reflects the vision I had in mind.
This exhibition marks the beginning of my artistic journey, and while Indian art and nature are the themes I explore today, I look forward to discovering and expressing many more subjects and ideas in the years ahead.
