V Uma Shankar
My early career in the art field began after completing my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in painting. I initially worked on figurative conceptual art with elements of semi-abstraction. I have always been fascinated by landscapes and perspectives of elevation, which often emphasize the background within my compositions.
During my early studies and practice, my work focused more on outdoor compositions and figure drawing.
I have always been drawn to watercolors and dry pastels. Over time, I gradually transitioned to working with oil and acrylic mediums.
The conceptual foundation of my work revolves around a solitary journey—exploring travel and life experiences within my environment, filled with emotions and feelings. This theme of solitude continues to be central to my artistic process, accompanied by continuous experimentation both in medium and concept.
