N K Baskaran
N.K. Baskaran (b. 1970, Chennai) is a painter whose practice is shaped by rigorous academic training and a sustained engagement with the exhibition circuit in India and abroad. A postgraduate in Painting from the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Chennai, Baskaran’s work emerges from a foundation deeply rooted in institutional pedagogy while evolving through decades of active participation in contemporary art contexts.
Since the late 1980s, he has consistently exhibited across significant platforms, including the Lalit Kala Academy, Cholamandal Artists’ Village, and Jehangir Art Gallery. His practice has been presented in numerous group exhibitions spanning Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, and New Delhi, alongside international presentations in Spain and Singapore. These contexts position his work within a broader transnational dialogue while remaining anchored in the Indian art landscape.
Baskaran’s solo exhibitions, held at established galleries such as Vinayasa Art Gallery, Lakshana Art Gallery, and Art Houz, reflect a sustained and evolving studio practice. His participation in events such as the Salaam India Expo further extends his visibility within international circuits.
